CARNIVAL 2010

Fifty-three athletic and performing arts events with over eight hundred participants and a whopping seven hundred and fifty gold, silver and bronze medals awarded! It was almost like a mini-Olympics, the recently concluded Carnival organized by the students and staff of The Modern School, Sec E, Aliganj, on the occasion of the Republic Day.

In today’s world not only academics but also co-curricular
activities are equally important. Keeping this in mind track and field events like inter – house cricket, basketball, football, kho–kho and tug-of-war matches were organized. Individual events like shot-put, 80 meters and 100 meters race were also held. Other performing arts competitions like mehndi, cooking without fire, mono-acting, calligraphy,community service presentation, face painting etc., were also organized.

In all these events students participated enthusiastically and with high team spirit. In order to test the intelligence of students, Maths, Science and IT quiz competitions were held. The school band also gave a mind blowing performance and entertained the audience. The remarkable feature of all these events was that the judges were parents of the students.

The program started with the lighting of the lamp by Mrs. Sangeeta Kapoor and Ms. Radhika Kapoor which was followed by Sarasvati Vandana dance . Ms. Radhika Kapoor gave an encouraging speech to the students. Mr. Rakesh Kapoor, the Founder Principal of the school also addressed the students on 26th January, and spoke about the significance of Republic Day in our lives.

The overall winner of the various events was Socrates House followed by Krishnamurthy, Geeta and Vivekananda houses respectively. All around the school a festive atmosphere prevailed, and gave the students a welcome break from their daily routines.
