Grand Bal Mela 2013 in aid of cancer patients

It was a beautiful day on Sunday, 10 Nov, when The Modern School, Sector E, Aliganj, organized the Grand Bal Mela – a charity fundraise in aid of cancer patients – which soon became a very successful fun filled event with over 6000 parents, kids and grandparents visiting.

The Bal Mela had over 60 food and games stalls and even a few stalls selling wares to ladies. Over half of those stalls were put up by the students of The Modern School, learning the very important attributes of cooperation, teamwork, entrepreneurship, leadership and most importantly caring, because every rupee profit that they were making would be donated in aid of cancer patients.

The major highlights of the event were: art and craft exhibition cum sale by students of the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (Grades Nur to 5), street magic by students of the school, Dholakpur land – a big hit among the young, all the food prepared by students themselves following every rule of hygiene, elephant, camel and horse rides, three raffle draws during the day and of course the many competitions for kids and their parents: Ms. Beautiful Hair, Baby Show, Fancy Dress & Art competition.

Overall it was an overwhelming experience and a major learning opportunity for all students, who were immediately rewarded, at the end of the Bal Mela, by an impromptu freestyle dance party to the tunes of the DJ.
